Curb Box
A curb box is a 100 mm (4") diameter metal piece of apparatus located in your front yard, placed on or within inches of the property line. It is usually placed at grade to allow lawn mowers to pass over it, or in driveways, which you may safely drive over.
The curb box allows WUC to shut off the water to your residence should the need arise (ie. a leaky water service to your house).
This curb box must be made accessible and be operable at all times for the main reason stated above.
If you are planning to install a new driveway or do landscaping around your property line, please contact WUC for a locate, and our staff will check your curb box free of charge to ensure it is in proper working order.
Please note that if a curb box has been buried in a finished driveway by the homeowner, any required exposure of the curb box and repair of the driveway will be at the expense of the homeowner.
