Curb Box
A curb box is a 100 mm (4") diameter metal piece of apparatus located in your front yard, placed on or within inches of the property line. It is usually placed at grade to allow lawn mowers to pass over it, or in driveways, which you may drive over.
The curb box allows WUC to close the service to your residence should the need arise (ie. a leaky water service to your house).
This curb box must be made accessible and operate at all times for the main reason stated above.
If you are planning to create a new driveway or do landscaping around your property line, please notify WUC for a locate, and our staff will check your curb box free of charge to ensure it is in proper working order.
Failing to do this may involve the need to break up a newly stamped concrete driveway, for instance, to allow access to the curb box.
