Pipe Patrol Program
Important Notice
WUC pipe patrol will be testing and cleaning the water mains and fire hydrants in neighbourhoods throughout the City on a predetermined, weekly basis starting in April and ending in October. The area targeted will be advertised in the Windsor Star in the Saturday paper immediately prior to commencing.
Where: See the Windsor Star Saturday paper or click here to find out.
The testing and cleaning procedure in any one area is completed Monday through Friday only and during the hours of 11:00pm and 7:00am only (unless there are extenuating circumstances).
Customers located in the targeted testing and cleaning areas may experience some mild colouring and sedimentation in their water during the period that the testing and cleaning is occurring. This is NOT harmful and should clear up quickly however, we ask that you follow the guidelines listed below:
Guidelines
- Fill some containers with water you may require during the duration of the work.
- Laundry may be damaged due to discolouration of the water. Please avoid doing laundry until the PIPE PATROL has completed work in your neighbourhood for that day.
- Try not to run any hot water taps as some discoloured water and sediment may be drawn into your hot water heater.
- When the PIPE PATROL is finished working, and if you experience discolouration, flow cold water through bathroom and kitchen faucet until the water is clear.
